Daylight Study

Implementing the WELL Building Standard into the University of Louisana at Lafayette’s third and fourth-year interior design studio creates a sense of security and comfort allowing students to achieve optimal focus and creativity. Offering alternative workspace options helps to improve focus and productivity while also encouraging socialization and collaborative work. This is achieved by creating spaces with moveable tables and modular seating. Spaces are differentiated by different ceiling systems, lighting types, and flooring. Concerning biophilia, being able to connect with nature both indoors and outdoors has innumerable benefits for the student’s mind and body. The furnished balconies provide a place of outdoor retreat for students to escape their workstations. Vertical green walls and potted plants bring a connection to nature into the studio.
